PRP/PRF for Women's Sexual Wellness & ED

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to commonly asked questions by patients seeking treatment with Hormone Optimization & Sexual Wellness.

  • How do I know if my hormones are 'out of balance'?
Hormone changes can show up in different ways for different people. Common symptoms include low energy, weight changes, reduced libido, sleep problems, mood changes, brain fog, and difficulty building or maintaining muscle mass.

The only way to know for sure is through a medical evaluation and lab testing. During your consultation, we review your symptoms, health history, and lab results to determine whether hormone therapy is appropriate — and to rule out other causes.
  • Is hormone therapy safe?
When properly prescribed and monitored under physician supervision, hormone therapy can be both safe and effective for appropriately selected patients.

Your plan is personalized based on:

    • lab results

    • medical history

    • risk factors

    • your goals

We use the lowest effective dose and monitor your response closely with follow-up visits and periodic labs. Not everyone is a candidate, and safety always comes first.
  • How soon will I notice improvement?
This varies from person to person and depends on which hormones are being optimized. Some patients notice improvements in energy, sleep, and mood within a few weeks, while changes in body composition, libido, and sexual function may continue improving over several months.

Hormone optimization is a process, not a quick fix, and results are monitored and adjusted over time.
  • Can hormone therapy help with low libido or sexual dysfunction?
In many cases, yes. Testosterone, estrogen, thyroid function, vaginal health, pelvic floor function, stress, and relationship factors can all influence sexual wellness.

We look at the whole picture, not just a single hormone level. Treatment may include hormone optimization, sexual-wellness therapies, lifestyle recommendations, or referral when appropriate. Your plan is individualized and focused on both safety and quality of life.

PRP/PRF for Women's Sexual Wellness

Your Own Platelets • Emerging Treatment • Physician-Led

A regenerative option for women's sexual health, explained honestly.

PRP and PRF are made from a small sample of your own blood. In women's sexual wellness, the concentrate is injected into specific areas of the vaginal and clitoral tissue after numbing, with the aim of supporting sensation, arousal and tissue health. It is a minimally invasive treatment.

At Valoura Med Spa, it is offered only after a private consultation with a board-certified physician at our clinic in Savoy, a few minutes from Champaign and Urbana, so that hormone, menopause and other medical causes are considered first.

CONCERNS WOMEN ASK ABOUT

Common concerns:

  • ✓ Lower sensation or arousal
  • ✓ Vaginal dryness
  • ✓ Discomfort during sex
  • ✓ Changes after childbirth or menopause

PRF AND PRP AT VALOURA

Both PRF and PRP are prepared from a patient's own blood and concentrate components involved in tissue repair and signaling. Differences in preparation affect their cellular composition, fibrin structure and handling characteristics. At Valoura, we use both PRP and PRF and select the approach based on the treatment area, procedure and individual patient.

A NOTE ON EVIDENCE

Research on PRP for female sexual health is limited. Most studies are small and do not include a comparison group, so it is not yet clear who benefits, by how much or for how long. It is not FDA-approved for this use and is considered investigational. We explain this before any decision, and we always discuss established options too.

ESTABLISHED OPTIONS WE ALSO CONSIDER

  • ✓ Low-dose vaginal estrogen for dryness after menopause
  • ✓ Lubricants and moisturizers
