PRP/PRF for Men's Sexual Wellness & ED

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to commonly asked questions by patients seeking treatment with Hormone Optimization & Sexual Wellness.

  • How do I know if my hormones are 'out of balance'?
Hormone changes can show up in different ways for different people. Common symptoms include low energy, weight changes, reduced libido, sleep problems, mood changes, brain fog, and difficulty building or maintaining muscle mass.

The only way to know for sure is through a medical evaluation and lab testing. During your consultation, we review your symptoms, health history, and lab results to determine whether hormone therapy is appropriate — and to rule out other causes.
  • Is hormone therapy safe?
When properly prescribed and monitored under physician supervision, hormone therapy can be both safe and effective for appropriately selected patients.

Your plan is personalized based on:

    • lab results

    • medical history

    • risk factors

    • your goals

We use the lowest effective dose and monitor your response closely with follow-up visits and periodic labs. Not everyone is a candidate, and safety always comes first.
  • How soon will I notice improvement?
This varies from person to person and depends on which hormones are being optimized. Some patients notice improvements in energy, sleep, and mood within a few weeks, while changes in body composition, libido, and sexual function may continue improving over several months.

Hormone optimization is a process, not a quick fix, and results are monitored and adjusted over time.
  • Can hormone therapy help with low libido or sexual dysfunction?
In many cases, yes. Testosterone, estrogen, thyroid function, vaginal health, pelvic floor function, stress, and relationship factors can all influence sexual wellness.

We look at the whole picture, not just a single hormone level. Treatment may include hormone optimization, sexual-wellness therapies, lifestyle recommendations, or referral when appropriate. Your plan is individualized and focused on both safety and quality of life.

PRP/PRF for Men's Sexual Wellness

Your Own Platelets • Emerging Treatment • Physician-Led

A regenerative option for men's sexual health, with honest information about the evidence.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are made from a small sample of your own blood. In men's sexual wellness, the concentrate is injected into the penis after numbing, with the aim of supporting blood flow and tissue health. It is a minimally invasive treatment.

At Valoura Med Spa, this treatment is offered only after a full evaluation by a board-certified physician at our clinic in Savoy, a few minutes from Champaign and Urbana, so that any underlying cause of erectile problems is found and treated first.

PRF AND PRP AT VALOURA

Both PRF and PRP are prepared from a patient's own blood and concentrate components involved in tissue repair and signaling. Differences in preparation affect their cellular composition, fibrin structure and handling characteristics. At Valoura, we use both PRP and PRF and select the approach based on the treatment area, procedure and individual patient.

A NOTE ON EVIDENCE

Research on PRP for erectile dysfunction is at an early stage. Some small studies report improvement, others show little difference compared with placebo, and there is not yet enough evidence to say who will benefit or for how long. Professional urology guidelines currently consider PRP for ED investigational, and it is not FDA-approved for this use. We share this before you decide, so your choice is an informed one.
