Medical microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses a pen device with ultrafine needles to create thousands of controlled micro-channels. The skin repairs them by producing new collagen and elastin, and typically becomes smoother, firmer and more even. It is minimally invasive: the needles enter the skin, but there is no cutting and no surgery.

At Valoura Med Spa, microneedling is performed under physician supervision with medical-grade equipment and depths that a spa or at-home roller cannot safely reach. Our clinic is in Savoy, a few minutes from Champaign and Urbana.

MEDICAL MICRONEEDLING VS. AT-HOME OR SPA ROLLERS

Depth is the difference.

At-home rollers reach a fraction of a millimeter and mostly help skincare absorb. Spa devices are limited to shallow depths. Medical microneedling creates controlled microchannels at treatment depths selected to stimulate the skin’s natural collagen-remodeling response, and the depth is adjusted for each area – shallower around the eyes, deeper on scarred cheeks – in a sterile clinical setting.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Consultation: we confirm microneedling is the right tool. If RF microneedling or a peel would serve you better, we say so.
2. Numbing: about 30 minutes of topical cream.
3. Treatment: 20–30 minutes. Feels like light vibration and scratching.
4. Recovery: redness for a day or two; avoid sun for a week.
5. Results: a glow within about a week for many patients; texture improvement builds over the series.
