Exosome Therapy
Cell-Free • Next-Generation • Physician-Led
A regenerative option for skin and hair, explained clearly.
Exosomes are tiny particles that cells use to communicate. They carry proteins and growth factors that can signal nearby cells to calm inflammation and support repair. In aesthetic medicine, a purified exosome product is usually applied to the skin or scalp straight after microneedling, as part of an individualized treatment plan.
At Valoura Med Spa, exosome treatments are physician-led and performed at our clinic in Savoy, a few minutes from Champaign and Urbana. This page covers exosome therapy in general. Skin treatment has its own page: Exosome Skin Regeneration.
WHERE EXOSOMES ARE USED
At Valoura:
- ✓ Skin – after microneedling or RF microneedling, for texture, redness and recovery (see Exosome Skin Regeneration)
- ✓ Hair – applied to the scalp after microneedling, as part of a plan for thinning hair
- ✓ Joints – see below
PLANT-DERIVED AND HUMAN-DERIVED OPTIONS
Chosen with you after your consultation.
Valoura offers both plant-derived and human-derived exosome options. Your physician recommends the right one based on your treatment plan and your preference after consultation.
EXOSOMES AND JOINTS
Exosomes are being studied for possible joint applications, and this research is still developing. At Valoura, our current regenerative joint treatments are PRP and PRF injections – see PRP/PRF Joint Injections.
EXOSOMES VS. PRF AND PRP
- ✓ Source: exosomes are plant-derived or human-derived and laboratory-prepared; PRF and PRP are prepared from your own blood
- ✓ Blood draw: not needed for exosomes; needed for PRF or PRP
- ✓ Often chosen for: exosomes for calmer recovery, redness and texture; PRF or PRP for skin quality, thin skin, scars and hair
Some patients prefer a treatment made from their own blood (PRF or PRP); others prefer no blood draw (exosomes). Our physician helps you choose.
A NOTE ON EVIDENCE
Exosome therapy is a newer area of aesthetic medicine. Studies so far have reported improvements in skin redness, texture and recovery after procedures, and early results for thinning hair, and research is continuing. We use exosomes alongside established treatments, and results vary from person to person.
