Botox Hyperhidrosis

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to commonly asked questions by patients seeking treatment with Injectables & Facial Aesthetics.

  • Is this the same as surgical jaw contouring?
No. Surgery changes the bone permanently. Non-surgical contouring uses filler and Botox, is done in under an hour, has no downtime and is reversible. For many people it achieves the look they want without an operation.
  • Will I still look like myself?
Yes. Our approach is natural, conservative, and customized. The goal is to soften lines while keeping your facial expressions and personality. You will look like you — just more rested.
  • Can jawline filler look natural on a woman?
Yes. For women we aim for a clean, lifted line rather than a hard angle. The amount and placement are very different from a male plan.
  • Is it safe?
When performed by a trained medical professional, neurotoxins have an excellent safety record and have been used safely for decades. We review your medical history to ensure treatment is appropriate for you.
  • How much does it cost?
    Pricing is based on:

    • number of units used

    • treatment area

    • product type

A personalized plan and cost estimate are reviewed before treatment, so there are no surprises.
  • What are Neurotoxins?
Neurotoxins are injectable medications (such as Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, and Daxxify®) that temporarily relax targeted facial muscles. This softens lines caused by expression, such as frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead wrinkles, while preserving natural expression when done correctly.

Botox for Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)

Drier for Months • Physician-Assessed • FDA-Approved for Underarms

Excessive sweating is a medical condition, and it is treatable.

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating beyond what is needed for normal temperature regulation. It can soak through clothing, make handshakes uncomfortable and interfere with work, social activities and daily life. Some patients continue to have significant symptoms despite regular or clinical-strength antiperspirants.

Botox is a well-established treatment for it. Small, minimally invasive injections into the skin block the nerve signal that switches the sweat glands on. At Valoura Med Spa the treatment is assessed and overseen by a board-certified physician at our clinic in Savoy, minutes from Champaign and Urbana.

AREAS WE TREAT

Treatment areas:

  • ✓ Underarms – Botox is FDA-approved for severe underarm sweating that has not improved with topical treatment.
  • ✓ Palms, soles or scalp – Botox is used off-label for these areas; ask us whether it is suitable for you.

WHY SEE A PHYSICIAN FOR SWEATING

Excessive sweating is sometimes a sign of something else, such as a thyroid problem, a medication side effect or a hormonal change. Before treating the sweat, our physician checks whether there is a cause worth addressing. That is a step a cosmetic-only clinic may not take.

RESULTS TIMELINE

Typical Results Timeline

Every patient is different. These are typical ranges, not a promise, and your physician will set your plan.

  • ✓ Sweating: often drops noticeably within about a week
  • ✓ Full effect: usually by about two weeks
  • ✓ How long it lasts: commonly 4–6 months, sometimes longer
  • ✓ Repeat: the treatment can simply be repeated when it wears off

WHAT TO EXPECT

  1. Consultation: we ask about your sweating pattern, what you have already tried and your medical history. If needed, we map the sweating area first so injections go where they are needed.
  2. Treatment: a grid of small, shallow injections across the area. Underarms take about 15–20 minutes. The needle is very fine, and numbing is available.
  3. Results: many patients notice a difference within the first week or two.
  4. Repeat: planned with you when the effect wears off.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE

Adults with sweating that interferes with daily life and has not improved with antiperspirants.

Please postpone or tell us if you:

  • ✓ Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • ✓ Have an active infection in the area
  • ✓ Have a nerve or muscle condition
  • ✓ Have had a reaction to these products before

This list is a guide only. Our physician confirms suitability at your consultation.
