Good lip filler should not announce itself.

It should give you softer, more defined or slightly fuller lips that still move naturally when you talk and smile. Lip filler is a minimally invasive injection treatment, and at Valoura Med Spa it is performed under physician supervision at our clinic in Savoy, a short drive from Champaign and Urbana.

THREE WAYS WE TREAT LIPS

Options:

• ✓ Lip hydration – a small amount of soft filler for dry, lined or slightly deflated lips. Adds moisture and smoothness more than size.
• ✓ Classic augmentation – filler placed to add volume and shape while keeping your natural lip line.
• ✓ Subtle Russian lip technique – when appropriate, we use a conservative version of this technique to enhance vertical definition and shape while respecting your natural lip anatomy and treatment goals.

If you want a little more definition without adding volume at all, a Botox lip flip may be all you need. We will tell you if that is the better option.

HOW WE KEEP LIPS NATURAL

We work with your lip shape, not against it.

That means respecting the ratio between the upper and lower lip, keeping the border crisp and adding volume in stages. The starting volume is individualized to your lips and goals, and building up gradually often gives a better result than doing everything at once.

LIP FILLER VS. LIP FLIP

• ✓ Changes: lip filler changes size and shape; a lip flip changes the position of the upper lip
• ✓ Product: lip filler uses hyaluronic acid filler; a lip flip uses a small dose of Botox or Dysport
• ✓ Result: lip filler shows straight away; a lip flip often within 3–7 days
• ✓ Lasts: lip filler commonly 6–12 months; a lip flip commonly 2–3 months
• ✓ Best for: lip filler for thin lips at rest and definition; a lip flip for an upper lip that disappears when smiling, or a gummy smile

Every patient is different. These are typical ranges, not a promise, and your physician will set your plan.

• ✓ Swelling: usually 2–3 days; bruising possible
• ✓ True result: typically settles by about two weeks
• ✓ How long it lasts: commonly 6–12 months, varies by patient

WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Consultation: we look at your lips at rest and when you smile, talk about the look you want and check that treatment is right for you. You will know the cost before we start.
2. Treatment: numbing cream first, and most lip fillers contain a numbing agent too. About 20–30 minutes.
3. Recovery: sleep with your head raised the first night and avoid hard exercise for 24 hours.
4. Results: immediate, with the settled result at about two weeks.

WHO SHOULD WAIT

Please postpone treatment or let us know before your appointment if you:

• ✓ Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• ✓ Have an active cold sore
• ✓ Have a history of recurrent cold sores
• ✓ Have a dental procedure booked within the next two weeks

For patients with a history of recurrent cold sores, antiviral prophylaxis may be recommended when clinically appropriate.
