Peptide Therapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to commonly asked questions by patients seeking treatment with IV Vitamin Therapy.

  • What is IV therapy and what does it do?
IV therapy delivers fluids, electrolytes, and selected vitamins directly into the bloodstream. Because it bypasses the digestive system, absorption is immediate, which can support hydration, energy, and recovery.

Our formulations are tailored to your goals such as hydration, wellness support, skin glow, athletic recovery, or post-travel fatigue. IV therapy is not a replacement for medical treatment of illness; it is used to support overall wellness in appropriate candidates.
  • Is IV therapy safe?
When performed by trained medical professionals using sterile equipment, IV therapy is considered safe for appropriately screened patients.

Before treatment, we review your medical history, allergies, medications, and vital signs to be sure IV therapy is appropriate for you. As with any IV treatment, mild bruising, temporary soreness, or irritation at the IV site can occur. People with certain conditions (such as kidney disease, heart failure, or pregnancy) may not be candidates.
  • How quickly will I feel the effects and how long do they last?
Many patients feel improvement in hydration, energy, or clarity within hours to a day after treatment. Effects can last several days to a couple of weeks, depending on your hydration status, sleep, stress, and overall health.

Every person responds differently — our goal is to support your wellness, not promise a specific result.
  • Who is a good candidate for IV therapy?
IV therapy may be appropriate for generally healthy adults seeking support with hydration, jet lag, recovery after strenuous activity, or overall wellness.

You may not be a candidate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have significant heart, kidney, or liver disease, active infection, anemia, or certain medical conditions. A brief medical screening helps ensure IV therapy is safe and appropriate for you.

Peptide Therapy

Physician-Prescribed • Licensed Sources • Monitored

Peptide therapy with medical oversight and honest information.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids – the building blocks of proteins. Your body makes many of them, and several well-known medicines are peptides, including insulin and GLP-1 weight loss medications. Peptide therapy uses specific peptides to support goals such as weight management, recovery or other health needs.

At Valoura Med Spa, peptide therapy is prescribed and monitored by a board-certified physician at our clinic in Savoy, a few minutes from Champaign and Urbana. Treatment selection depends on physician evaluation, clinical appropriateness and applicable regulatory requirements, and we explain the evidence for any peptide we recommend.

ESTABLISHED MEDICAL USES

Some peptide medicines are FDA-approved for specific conditions, for example:

  • ✓ GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide and tirzepatide – for chronic weight management (see GLP-1 Medical Weight Loss)
  • ✓ Bremelanotide – for low sexual desire (hypoactive sexual desire disorder) in premenopausal women

EMERGING AND INVESTIGATIONAL USES

Many peptides promoted for recovery, tissue repair, sleep, body composition or anti-aging – for example, growth hormone–releasing peptides – have limited research in people for these uses. They are not FDA-approved for these purposes, and some face restrictions on how pharmacies can prepare them. Copper peptides, found in some skin care products, are being studied for skin quality.

These examples are for information. Not every peptide is offered at Valoura or available for routine prescribing. Whether a peptide is right for you depends on physician evaluation, clinical appropriateness and applicable regulatory requirements.

A NOTE ON EVIDENCE AND REGULATION

Some peptide medicines are FDA-approved for specific conditions and have strong research behind them. Many others promoted for wellness, anti-aging or recovery are not FDA-approved, have limited research in people and, in some cases, face restrictions on how pharmacies can prepare them. We tell you which group a peptide falls into before you start, and we do not prescribe peptides we cannot source legally and safely.
