Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)
Confirmed by Labs • Monitored • Physician-Led
Testosterone treatment for men with confirmed low levels.
Testosterone naturally declines with age, and in some men it drops low enough to cause symptoms such as low energy, low libido, erectile problems, low mood and loss of muscle. Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) brings levels back into a normal range. It is usually a long-term treatment, so it should start with proper testing, not a single number.
At Valoura Med Spa, TRT is prescribed and monitored by a board-certified physician at our clinic in Savoy, a few minutes from Champaign and Urbana.
SIGNS OF LOW TESTOSTERONE
Common symptoms:
- ✓ Low sex drive
- ✓ Erectile problems
- ✓ Tiredness and low energy
- ✓ Low mood or irritability
- ✓ Loss of muscle and strength
- ✓ More body fat
These symptoms can also come from sleep problems, thyroid issues, stress or medication, which is why testing matters.
HOW WE CONFIRM IT
Guidelines recommend at least two early-morning blood tests on different days before diagnosing low testosterone. Valoura performs a laboratory evaluation before starting testosterone treatment, and we also check related hormones and, where needed, other causes. TRT is only started when both your symptoms and your lab results support it.
TREATMENT OPTIONS
- ✓ Injections – every week or every few weeks. Can be given in clinic or at home
- ✓ Gels or creams – applied to the skin daily. Avoid skin contact with partners and children after applying
- ✓ Pellets – placed under the skin every few months. Fewer visits; the dose is harder to adjust quickly
RESULTS TIMELINE
Typical Results Timeline
Every patient is different. These are typical ranges, not a promise, and your physician will set your plan.
- ✓ Libido and energy: often within 3–6 weeks
- ✓ Mood: commonly within a few weeks to a few months
- ✓ Muscle and body composition: usually 3–6 months or longer
- ✓ Monitoring labs: commonly at 3 and 6 months, then at regular intervals
MONITORING AND SAFETY
TRT can raise your red blood cell count, affect prostate markers and worsen sleep apnea, so regular blood tests and check-ups are part of treatment. TRT also lowers sperm production and can cause infertility. If you want children now or in the future, tell us before starting.
WHO SHOULD WAIT
TRT may not be suitable, or needs extra care, if you:
- ✓ Want to father a child soon (we discuss other options)
- ✓ Have prostate or breast cancer
- ✓ Have a high red blood cell count
- ✓ Have untreated severe sleep apnea
- ✓ Have had a heart attack or stroke in the past few months
This list is a guide only. Our physician confirms suitability at your consultation.
