Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to commonly asked questions by patients seeking treatment with Hormone Optimization & Sexual Wellness.

  • How do I know if my hormones are 'out of balance'?
Hormone changes can show up in different ways for different people. Common symptoms include low energy, weight changes, reduced libido, sleep problems, mood changes, brain fog, and difficulty building or maintaining muscle mass.

The only way to know for sure is through a medical evaluation and lab testing. During your consultation, we review your symptoms, health history, and lab results to determine whether hormone therapy is appropriate — and to rule out other causes.
  • Is hormone therapy safe?
When properly prescribed and monitored under physician supervision, hormone therapy can be both safe and effective for appropriately selected patients.

Your plan is personalized based on:

    • lab results

    • medical history

    • risk factors

    • your goals

We use the lowest effective dose and monitor your response closely with follow-up visits and periodic labs. Not everyone is a candidate, and safety always comes first.
  • How soon will I notice improvement?
This varies from person to person and depends on which hormones are being optimized. Some patients notice improvements in energy, sleep, and mood within a few weeks, while changes in body composition, libido, and sexual function may continue improving over several months.

Hormone optimization is a process, not a quick fix, and results are monitored and adjusted over time.
  • Can hormone therapy help with low libido or sexual dysfunction?
In many cases, yes. Testosterone, estrogen, thyroid function, vaginal health, pelvic floor function, stress, and relationship factors can all influence sexual wellness.

We look at the whole picture, not just a single hormone level. Treatment may include hormone optimization, sexual-wellness therapies, lifestyle recommendations, or referral when appropriate. Your plan is individualized and focused on both safety and quality of life.

Discreet care for sexual health concerns in men and women.

Changes in desire, arousal or sexual function are common, and they often have a medical cause – hormones, blood flow, medication side effects, stress or other health conditions. They are also treatable. Many people wait years before asking for help. You do not have to.

At Valoura Med Spa, a board-certified physician at our clinic in Savoy, a few minutes from Champaign and Urbana, offers private, respectful consultations for men and women.
